Despoina Potion Perfume (Persephone - Underworld Version)

The tradition of oil perfumes dates back thousands of years, playing an important role in spiritual and religious ceremonies and worship. Applied in temples, on sacred objects, and to the skin, they were used for everything from cleansing to invocation to offerings. 

Potion Perfumes are in-house blends of essential oils and fragrances in a liquid coconut oil base at a 20% concentration (a "Parfum"), colored with skin-safe mica. Each 1.5oz glass bottle comes with a black and gold dropper.

Despoina pays homage to a goddess known most often by another name - Persephone. As Maiden of Spring she is known as Kore, but as Queen of the Underworld, her moniker is Despoina, Cthonic Mistress. This scent evokes the scene of a midnight ritual, with plates of juicy pomegranates, goblets of ginny juniper, and the wafting incense of heady oud. 

How to Use Oil Perfumes

Most modern perfumes are alcohol-based, which can be drying on the skin and produce an overpowering perfume-y smell. Potion Perfumes are oil-based, moisturizing the skin, sinking in and creating a soft aura of scent. To get the most out of your potion perfume, we recommend the following steps:

1. Moisturize! Before applying your perfume, moisturize the areas of application to extend the longevity of the Potion Perfume.
2. Shake your bottle and apply it to a few heat points (wrist, behind ears, throat, inside elbows, etc).
3. Avoid rubbing - dab the Potion Perfume on and let it soak in, nourishing the skin. 
4. Try applying Potion Perfume to the ends of your hair for increased scent throw.
